Mission:

The mission of Student Diversity and Academic Support Programs (SDP) is to actively recruit and retain academically talented students from ethnic populations that are historically under-represented in Higher Education.  In conjunction with the university's mission, SDP's ultimate goal is to create an environment that provides development, guidance and academic support needed to be successful here at Missouri S&T; while equipping our students with the knowledge and skills needed to transition effectively into society.  We encourage student development and leadership in campus and community organizations through involvement in the following areas:

  • Student Organization Leadership
  • Master Student Classes
  • Residential Housing Learning Communities
  • Guest Lecturers
  • Workshops
  • Scholarships
  • Resource Center

SDP hopes that through its programs and partnerships, students will acquire tools and strategies to support their academics and identify their different learning styles and personality traits that will aid in their overall success. Executing these initiatives allow SDP to continuously encouraging current students to help with recruiting other minority students to the campus.
