Mission:

The Women's Leadership Institute's Mission is to serve as an Educational and Professional Development Resource Center for all Missouri S&T students. The WLI provides a number of activities and programs for students to learn about leadership from the female perspective. The ultimate goal of the program is to enable more students to be ready to assume leadership and management positions after completing their studies at Missouri S&T.WLI encourage student involvement and strategic leadership in campus and community organizations through involvement in the following areas:

• Classes
• Residential College Learning Communities
• Guest Lectures
• Workshops
• Scholarships
• Women in Science & Engineering (WISE)
• Student Organizations (SWE)
• Resource Library
• Mentoring

Goals:

• Provide students with an assessment of their current leadership skills (strengths / weaknesses), both at the beginning of the year and at the end

• Learn about leadership from the female perspective: styles, theories and techniques, in both historical and current perspectives

• Learn about project management techniques and plan a service learning project to be executed in the spring semester

• Learn about team-based leadership and building effective teams

• Expose the students to current female leadership role models through guest and faculty speakers
